a.x.t. is a boutique architectural practice that treats every project as a process of discovery, beginning with the essential idea and building outward towards a tailored solution. Being a boutique practice is central to how they work. It allows them to stay close to clients and their needs. Projects are not passed through a system; they are developed through conversation, iteration and a direct relationship between client and architect. a.x.t. needed a complete visual identity that could better communicate the character of the practice. As a smaller architectural firm, a.x.t. operates differently from a large studio. Projects begin with close client relationships and are developed individually, without imposing a predetermined language. a.x.t. wanted to be positioned as bespoke and rigorous while maintaining a unique personality. The identity needed to communicate an extensive yet meticulous process. Beginning with a dot, the point becomes a line, which connects to other dots forming relationships. From there, planes and structures eventually allow dimension to emerge. This process was employed for the wordmark, resulting in a reflection of how the firm approaches projects. Beginning with the smallest point, ideas are brought together to form a larger web of connections that are then structured together to produce forms.
